07.06.18. ...and almost a week went by...

So I did my “normal” thing (he says after only two weeks of posts...) and did not post on Friday and Saturday. Then we had a busy Monday with a hospital visit (partly planned) followed by a busy Tuesday as my son turned 4. Don’t know where Wednesday went, but here we are.

Work has continued. I’ve lettered page 2 and 3.

I do my lettering in Illustrator and then import it to Photoshop (usually with my son sitting on my lap watching something on my computer...). Special lettering, like sound effects and signs, I do in Photoshop. I find the text/image manipulation better there than in Illustrator, where as the continuous editing of text is way better in Illustrator.

I have started laying out page 4-6 ( or chapter 2, page 1-3, if you wish) bit at this stage, even I am having trouble telling what’s what. When they look a little clearer, I’ll post them.

Have a great day. (And as always, you wanna let me know how I’m doing, please post below.)

Day 49: Words words words

Today is a lettering update. Another page finished. Page 13!! Yay. That two more pages than both Jon Pay, PI vs. Machine-Gun Kelley and Jon Pay, PI: The Comedy is Over.  That being said, I am currently inking page 18, which means I have inked more pages than Jon Pay, PI: Bullets, Babes & By-lines and the most consecutive Jon Pay pages to date... I know I'm sad, but this is one of MANY ways I attempt to motivate myself.

Anyway... here are some pretty pictures with some word balloons covering up the art I worked so hard on... not really. I try my best to roughly place the text before I start drawing, to avoid doing just that. You'll also get supportive characters galore here.

First off is El Billy Tremendo, the current, heavyweight champion of Cobb City. He is facing off with Jack Knightley

Then we have Jacks manager, Alfie Brown. He is an old friend of Jon.

Finally, we have Rodney Hatchett and Don Primo

As always, I would love to hear any thoughts and comments you may have. Do you agree with my balloon-layout? Do you like my characters? Do you not like them? Let me know below.

Day 40: slow start

I'm back. I survived the holidays...well, so far at least. Still have house-guests and kids are off school for another two weeks. This will again limit progress, but it's time to start up again.

Got in some lettering again  I'll give you two samples. Can't spoil everything, you know. As you can see, one or two more of that supporting cast I keep bragging about.

And here is a better look at Rod Hatchett, Don Primo and Von Glückenspiel.

Now, here's a question. Technically I did stop posting for a while there. Now, should I reset the day-count to day 1 or continue where I left off? Any thoughts?

Anyway, I hope you all had a festive season and that julenissen was kind to you and yours. Now roll on 2018.
