Day 49: Words words words

Today is a lettering update. Another page finished. Page 13!! Yay. That two more pages than both Jon Pay, PI vs. Machine-Gun Kelley and Jon Pay, PI: The Comedy is Over.  That being said, I am currently inking page 18, which means I have inked more pages than Jon Pay, PI: Bullets, Babes & By-lines and the most consecutive Jon Pay pages to date... I know I'm sad, but this is one of MANY ways I attempt to motivate myself.

Anyway... here are some pretty pictures with some word balloons covering up the art I worked so hard on... not really. I try my best to roughly place the text before I start drawing, to avoid doing just that. You'll also get supportive characters galore here.

First off is El Billy Tremendo, the current, heavyweight champion of Cobb City. He is facing off with Jack Knightley

Then we have Jacks manager, Alfie Brown. He is an old friend of Jon.

Finally, we have Rodney Hatchett and Don Primo

As always, I would love to hear any thoughts and comments you may have. Do you agree with my balloon-layout? Do you like my characters? Do you not like them? Let me know below.

Day 37: what?!?

What do you mean "tomorrow's Monday"?!?!

(If you want to know who Jon is really pissed at, or want a more interesting post, check yesterday's post.)

If you want to learn more about Jon Pay or Gus MacDugal, there are three comics available on ComiXology (for a very reasonable price if I do say so myself... and I'm a cheapscape...)

Day 11: Page 15 in the can

Well, who'd'a thought?!? Page 15 done bang on schedule!! I promised yesterday I'd show the last three panels and as I said on day 5, Gus MacDugal would get some screen time.

And just for a bonus, here is one of my favourite Gus scenes from Jon Pay, PI: Bullets, Babes & By-Lines

If you want to find out what is going on in the panels or if you want to learn more about Jon Pay or Gus MacDugal, there are three comics available on ComiXology (for a very reasonable price if I do say so myself... and I'm a cheapscape...)

No, I did not fall of the face of a the earth...

Things have been busy around these parts. Lot of balls up in the air but unfortunately not too much I am ready to talk about yet. I have been granted access to an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil for a bit of time and this is giving me a whole perspective on digital inking. I can't unfortunately show you the whole page I am working on (it's one of those pages that can't be seen until publication) but I just wanted to show how it's coming out and to hear your opinion. Please let me know what you think and hopefully I'll be announcing some stuffs soon.

Yep, I need help...

Here we have a perfect example of why I should not be allowed to work on any device or with any equipment which will allow me to zoom in on a certain sequence of a page or a panel while working. The following is part of a panel which sets to establish a scene-/stage-change. And as such, I wanted show a little bit of a street scene.

I am happy with how it turned out, so why am I complaining? Well, this is only a little part of the panel...

... And the thing is the panel itself is not that big on the actual page...

Pardon the bottom half of the page above. It is still WIP and thus most of it is kind of rough, as is the placement of the dialog. But now you see why I take forever to get pages done, wasting time on stuff nobody will see. You should not do that...

Anyway, hope you like this little insight into my insanity and my process. If you have any advice to offer or any thoughts to share, please do so. I'd love to hear from you.

Prizefighters & Knickerbockers have a few more panels

I have boldly been bragging on FB that I am producing panels again. That being said, I am putting my stylus and iPad where my keyboard is and posting the latest tier that has finally been completed.

It may seem out of nowhere that I am producing again (especially since my last Pf&Kb-update was back in 2010...), but thanks to the Cork Comic Creators and Turncoat Press, I have slowly getting back into comic book work for the last year and a half. Thanks to these support groups (cause that's what they've been for me) I have produced more comic book work in said 18 months, than I have in the last seven or so years. I am planing on keeping it up and will hopefully be making all kinds of announcement in the not to distant future.

That being said, here is the tier I promised. Although, I won't post every panel, I am hoping to post more soon and on a more regular basis...

As always, do let me know what you think.

Mummy piece begins

Started work on a piece I've wanted to work on for the longest time. Figured a little drawing on something I'd enjoy, was overdue...

More clowning around...

As a follow up to last entry, here's more of the clown being drawn out. This time around I started to add his muscles as well. I am hoping to share more about these guys very soon.

Things may be happening again

Some of you may have checked out some of the sketches I have been doing over on my daily sketch blog (if you haven't, why don't you?!? Just click here for the latest sketch?) but as that project is coming to an end, things are starting to happen in Cobb City again. So here's a video of a character I am working on. I am hoping to share more on this character and the story he is in, soon. Let me know what you think.

I'm still here...

Wow, it has been a while since I posted anything here. Apologies. Moving country, new job, you know; Life...

     Some sketching has been done:
These were done at work (none art-related work) just trying to get my hand back in it.

This was a challenge issued by my good friend, Doc Monster, which also resulted on the following sketch which was actually done on an iPad, yep, trying to be moving with the times... May post some character studies for an upcoming "Jon Pay side-step" which was also done on the pad.

However, thanks to a very cool Xmas gift, I am actually sketching every day now. The result of which can be seen here:

http://642ttd.blogspot.ie

As a matter of fact, the robot made it into the daily sketching (which is now up to day 251) and can be seen here.

I hope you check it out.
